Beginnings
Angela Castrigno
When I was 3 years old, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through chemotherapy and radiation, she managed to come out the other side. Then, she was diagnosed again 11 years later, and again 6 years after that. Today, she is fighting for the 4th time, and her reoccurrence rate is so high that her doctors have her receiving chemotherapy every 3 weeks... indefinitely.
It has always seemed counter-intuitive to me to try to heal the body with poisonous chemicals, but it wasn’t until I saw a documentary on “The Gerson Therapy” that I had my first true “aha!” moment. I immediately started to research nutritional healing for chronic disease, and I was astounded by what I found. It was in that moment that my journey towards health coaching began. I now know, in my heart, that the body can heal itself, by itself, given half the chance.
My main motivation stems from witnessing others transform their lives through the power of healthy living. My hope is to be a part of the growing support system that encourages and empowers people take the steps and make the changes. It is so inspiring to hear others talk about their triumphs regarding their health. Today, I am my mother’s personal health coach. She inspires me everyday to keep sharing information with my community.
In addition to building my Health Coaching practice, I am the founder of a little project called Hoops for Humanity, through which I provide hula hoop fitness classes and custom made hula hoops for my local community. Because I believe that joy, movement, and finding your inner child are huge contributors to healthy living, I will be offering these services to my Health Coaching clients as well.
Nutrition is not just about what we put into our bodies. What we eat, do, see, smell, hear, and feel is all connected to our well-being. It is so important to share our experiences with one another. The power to share information is perhaps one of the biggest responsibilities we have, and one of the greatest blessings.
So it is with this first blog post that I begin a new outlet for sharing. I hope it will encourage others to do the same :)
Be well ∞
